Birthday weekend #1

We had a beautiful weekend of weather and enjoyed every minute of it! On Friday, the kids and I spent 3 hours on the canal...walking, fishing, picnicking,"hiking" and pine cone-eating. Foster is still obsessed with his new fishing rod, and although no fish paid much attention to the plastic alligator tied to the line, an ENORMOUS bullfrog almost swallowed the whole thing down. For size, the alligator is about 3 inches long. We had the neighbors over for a little party for Foster on Saturday and I think by the pictures you can tell one of his favorite people in the world (other than family of course) is Robert Eyre. Foster thoroughly enjoyed all of the festivities, especially his banana cake! The small picnic table was our present to him for his birthday. It's turned out to be a magical table....he'll sit by himself alone and content for a long time, even if we aren't outside! We'll see if that persists when the newness wears off. Sunday we took both kids to the Red Sox game after not being able to find a sitter. The game went as expected...with little baseball actually watched, but Foster had a good time, particularly the ice cream sundae. Unfortunately there was a major traffic jam leaving the game and it took us two hours to get home. Both kids and parents were exhausted....but happy to be home. Looking forward to birthday weekend #2 with the Littles and Morrises next weekend!
